What we do

SENDIASS offers information, advice and support to children, young people (0-25)  and families about special educational needs and disabilities.

If  you have a child with SEN, trying to get the best advice and help may feel daunting and confusing.

The information on this page tells you a little about what we can do for you and the way we go about our work. 

We want to make sure we can help you however we can!

Information and advice

SENDIASS provides you with factual information and advice based on SEN Law and Guidance for those aged 0-25 years. This includes SEN Support, EHCPs, Annual Reviews, Transport, Suspensions and Exclusions and Tribunals. With this factual information SENDIASS will always give individualised support.

Personalised support

SENDIASS acknowledge the individuality of everybody and the situation you are experiencing. SENDIASS give accurate advice to those circumstances.

Empowerment

SENDIASS provide you with information to allow you to be confident to make decisions when seeking resolutions. We ensure you are fully knowledgeable so you can make informed decisions. We make sure the young person's voice remains central.

Impartiality

SENDIASS are impartial - we do not take sides

Self advocacy

SENDIASS give you the correct information in order for you to make decisions and feel confident to have those conversations.

Communication

SENDIASS enable positive conversations in order to seek to resolve situations. This is in a timely manner understanding multiple views.

Paperwork

SENDIASS can support you to complete the following paperwork:

  • EHCNA request
  • Parental views
  • Response to draft EHCP
  • Tribunal documents
  • Annual review

SENDIASS do not support with DLA paperwork but we can signpost accordingly

Perception

SENDIASS dispel myths and check your understanding, SENDIASS give honest, impartial advice

Signposting

SENDIASS may know of different services who may help so will point you to other support services where necessary

Meetings

If capacity allows, SENDIASS may attend statutory meetings

Confidentiality

SENDIASS do not discuss children, young people or parents' information without priot consent from those with parental responsibility (unless there are safeguarding concerns)
